ITIS Holdings plc in partnership with its local Irish licencee, iTraffic, is pleased to announce a major breakthrough for commuters in Ireland. iTraffic has launched the first nationwide traffic information system that will deliver real time and historic information to users allowing them for the first time to make intelligent decisions about their choice of routes and departure time helping driver save time, save money and cut their CO2 emissions.

Using ITIS TrafficScience™ technology iTraffic is able to collect information about traffic conditions across the entire road network using anonymous signalling information from the O2 cellular network. The high quality and extensive coverage of the traffic information will also enable iTraffic to provide historic information to local and national government.

iTraffic is working closely with ITIS to deliver commercially proven applications such as telephone traffic services and a broadcast RDS-TMC service providing live traffic information into navigation devices across the entire Irish strategic road network and has recently launched an SMS service to provide up to date travel information on major urban and inter-urban routes.
